Oxted is getting ready for a taste of la dolce vita when the real Italian food market, comes to the town centre on Saturday 20th May. It will bring together a tempting selection of the finest authentic produce from all over Italy and amongst the stalls, shoppers can expect to find the likes of speciality pasta and sauces, extra virgin olive oils and fresh olives from Puglia and a wide variety of cheeses and torrone (Italian nougat) from Lombardy. Sweet pastries, cakes and biscuits, artisan breads, herbs and spices and a selection of classic Italian cured meats and salami complete the choice of produce available to buy and take home. If the hunger pangs get too much as you’re wondering around there will also be a great selection of Italian Street Food including rancini di riso (risotto balls), pizza calzone and Italian sausage in a bread roll.
The Italian Market hosted by Italia In Piazza will run from 9am to 4pm on the station forecourt at the top of Station Road East, the other side of the town to Robert Leech. There is also the added advantage of hundreds of free parking spaces around the town centre on the day. This event follows on from last year’s hugely successful French Market organised by Love Oxted, which drew crowds of food lovers to shop the stalls of classic Gallic produce. Buon Appetito!
